Our Markets business offers a broad range of financial market products coupled with complementary strengths in market making and technology innovation that allows us to provide comprehensive financial solutions to corporate, institutional, government and public sector clients.

In China, we have one of the largest Markets team among international banks, with more than 40 professionals located in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. In response to the continued rapid development of China's financial market, we have established business teams focused on Corporate and Investor Sales, Local Markets and Credit Trading as well as Money Markets Risk Treasury. We offer basic transactional products (such as commercial Foreign Exchange) to address clients' operational needs as well as tailor-made consultative solutions to assist clients on exposure management, investment and asset allocation, capital structure optimization and structured financing (i.e. loans and Capital markets). We have been successfully fulfilled the market making responsibility and provided sufficient liquidity to our clients as well as inter-bank market.

Key achievements include:
  • The first international bank in China granted foreign currency business licenses to serve Chinese customers in March 2002, under China's commitment to WTO.
  • One of the first international banks to obtain the RMB FX forward and derivatives license.
  • One of the first batch of international banks to be appointed as an RMB FX interbank market maker and bond market maker.
  • One of the most active participants in the development of China's RMB capital market and foreign exchange markets.
  • In 2008 Asia Money FX Poll, was voted Best Overall FX Services and Best Single Bank Electronic Banking Platform.
  • Voted No.1 Trading Bank for derivatives in 2008 China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) Poll, and also named by CFETS members as the leading market marker for foreign currency pairs.
  • In 2012 Asia Money FX Poll, was voted Best of overall FX services by Corporates and Financial Institutions
